36 Weeks

I didn't take any pictures last week... but Pete and I and our family have noticed a really big change from 35 weeks to 36 weeks! I'm guessing that a big belly growth spurt means that baby is getting nice and chubby in there. I'm still feeling really good and I get more and more excited as the days go by. So, here is the belly for your viewing pleasure....

Ernie and the Belly

We failed to take an official 34 week belly shot last week... BUT... Pete captured some good ones of Ernie snuggling up with the belly.

Of course she still loves Pete too... and actually, I think he is probably her most favorite person in the whole world...

I know Ernie is just a dog, but she has been such a love through this whole experience and it seems that the bigger the belly, the more she wants to cuddle. This was quite a change from a dog who used to love her independence. When my morning sickness first started in the summer, she would follow me to the bathroom with her ears back and a look of concern, then she would lick my leg to show her support. Now she follows me around from room to room and snuggles up right against me when we watch tv in the evenings. She must know that life will be changing very soon!

Week 33

There's not too much to update on but baby news. I am halfway through 33 weeks and doing great. I'm happy to report that the upper back pain I was experiencing through November and December is nowhere near what it used to be. I get heartburn a lot (which I never ever had before I was pregnant) and I am very easily winded... but being this far along I feel lucky to still have lots of energy (on most days) despite getting up at least twice a night to go to the bathroom. We had an ultrasound a few weeks ago and everything baby is looking good. Baby's growth is right on track and the head is way down low... which explains why I am constantly in the bathroom. It also confirms my suspicions of having little feet stuck under my ribs on occasion. I pretty much only feel the baby squirming around on my right side, but every now and again, I can see and feel a limb swing over to the left to even things out. And the poor kiddo gets a case of the hiccups nearly everyday...

Other than that, at the end of January we went to Whistler with some of our friends... I had a nice relaxing weekend with the ladies, while Pete and the boys ventured out to the slopes. I heard of only one near catastrophe that resulted in Pete losing his skis at the top of the run, which then caused him to slide halfway down a double black diamond on his belly. No injuries were reported besides some snow up the jacket... I'm just happy I wasn't there to witness it. He also just got back from a quick trip to Vegas for work meetings-- conveniently timed with Super Bowl Sunday. Last year he came back a major winner, however this year, I think Vegas won. Things with work should slow down a bit for him in the coming weeks, and then pick right back up just in time for us to have a baby :)

**If you haven't voted on our baby poll yet, click HERE to play! If you only have 1 guess in, remember that you get 2 (if you want). I will be cutting off the voting a week or two before my due date**

And here is my giant belly at 33.5 weeks! At this point it is hard to believe that I will likely be putting on about 1 pound per week until the end. Thankfully, just my belly is swollen at this point and my feet (so far) are still the same size!

Lately

Besides me being 30 weeks pregnant, Pete is winding down a crazy and eventful month of work. Tomorrow is his first day off in 2 weeks, which is wonderful because I feel like I haven't seen him in ages. Last weekend I had 2 of my good friends from Seattle drive up for the night. We pretty much sat on the couch and chatted for 24 hours straight. It was soooo nice to have company and catch up with them. They also brought me baby gifts and a care package for the hospital which inspired me to finally get motivated to get things ready for our newest addition. (Meaning I bought a crib and Pete set it up last night... that's about it so far.)

This week we had some snow and really cold weather like the rest of the Pacific Northwest, but all in all where we live, the roads have been fine and no one got stuck anywhere. My parents are arriving this afternoon for a quick visit. Lots of hockey games are on the agenda as well as getting the house ready for baby. It will be nice to have them around for extra hands to do the things I can't do anymore... like moving furniture and maybe a little bit of painting here and there.

At 30 weeks I'm still feeling good and getting kicked in the ribs daily. According to the internet, baby should be around 3 pounds right now. Also according to the internet he/she is also about the size of a head of cabbage ;) and over 15 inches long.

Here are some pictures of what's been going on around here lately...

30 weeks! 10 to go!

still needs a mattress and some cute bedding....

(She did this on her own, I promise!) I decided to get ahead of
the game and pull out a suitcase to put in the things I've been given for the hospital. Looks like someone had other plans...

Third Trimester

I officially entered the third trimester this week! Our little munchkin is super active and I can tell he/she is getting stronger these days. We even had a few cases of the hiccups, which I felt for the first time about a week ago. I am feeling good despite some upper back pain and insomnia... And I'm still walking the dog almost every day for exercise. I also have a good amount of energy, although I'm finding that bending over gets less fun as the weeks roll on.

I don't see my doctor again until January 24, but after that, the visits start to get a bit more frequent. I have another diagnostic ultrasound scheduled for January 31 to check the placement of my placenta which they found to be a bit too low in the November ultrasound. If it's in the way and hasn't moved since then, we will have to recheck at 36 weeks and possibly schedule a cesarean. While that is less than ideal, I'm thinking positively and hoping for the best. However, the most important thing is a healthy baby and Mama :) so if the c-section is necessary for that outcome, I won't complain.

And finally, here's what 28 weeks looks like:

All Things Baby

Now that I'm heading into my THIRD and LAST trimester next week, we wanted to get a little game going. Pete set up an internet site where you can guess our lil baby's gender, birthdate/time and length/weight. You can have up to 2 guesses in each category... but we have yet to determine what the prize will be for the winner. There are also a few ridiculous 'poll questions' on the site that he put up just for kicks.

So if you'd like to participate in this little bit of fun, here's the instructions:

1) Click here
2) That should take you to our game page. Once you are there, it will say "Welcome to Stefanie and Peter's Game Page"
3) You will see a chart with previous guesses. On the top right, just above the chart it says "You may enter 2 guesses." Click the purple link that says "Enter Guess" and follow the prompts.
4) Don't forget the poll questions on the right hand side.

In other news, last week just before Christmas we went in for a 3D ultrasound. We heard the heartbeat, got it on video and ended up with about 40 pictures. It did feel a little like cheating but it was still a lot of fun. It was also EXTREMELY tempting to have the tech scan around its baby bits, but we decided to torture ourselves a little longer and we held out from finding out the gender. Obviously we have been thrilled this whole pregnancy, but seeing the baby in more detail made us more excited than ever. I'm hoping these last 3 months fly by.

Our Place

I meant to take pictures of our new place and post them up here long ago... however, the house felt pretty empty until November when we bought a few more things and had it painted. It was also never clean enough for me to be willing to snap a photo. I seemed to have forgotten pictures of the 2 bathrooms (oh well) and I left out a picture of the guest bedroom because we will be transforming it into the baby's room in just a few months. So, here is our place decorated for Christmas...
