Some things are too good not to share. Most things aren't. But I will tell you anyway.

Ultrasound from 8.5 Weeks
Maybe not the clearest picture, but this is the ultrasound from 8 and a half weeks. Baby was still in the smurf/gummy bear phase, but has been doing a lot of growing since then. If you look carefully, it actually does look like something. The little feet are sticking out at the top right and you can sort of make out two arms along the side, just below the little head (which is angled downward).
A few days after this ultrasound, I went in for a routine appointment and heard a speedy little heartbeat of 160 beats per minute on the doppler. Just last week I was in again for my monthly checkup and the heart was still beating strong, but easier to find and higher up on my belly. Hearing the little one was such a cool experience, I'm so excited to feel the first movements!
14 Weeks
It looks like I've been doing some growing in the past week! And I've even gone 2 days without throwing up and eating somewhat normally. I've had some serious food aversions which are still sticking around, but my options and my appetite seem to be expanding little by little in the past few days... Thank goodness!

| I'm always surprised by my belly when we go to take these pictures. I guess this is nothing though compared to what's coming in the next few months! |

The Bump
Even though there isn't much to see yet, I thought it would be fun to keep track of my growing belly. We weren't very good at documenting it during the first few weeks because there wasn't anything to show off. I still don't look pregnant in regular clothes, but you can see some progress in these pictures.

| Checking things out at 13 weeks |
I have been dealing with a lot of 'morning' sickness lately, as a result we forgot to take a photo during week 11, oops. Week 12 is me in a bridesmaid dress in the previous post. I'm 14 weeks this week... I will put up photos when we get around to taking them =)
Surprise!

Last Day of Summer
I guess they take the last day of summer seriously up here, because it looks like winter outside (what happened to fall?). It is gray, gloomy and raining, but luckily relatively warm. To commemorate the official last day of summer, I thought it would be appropriate to post a couple pictures from the past few sunny months....
In June, we ate our wedding cake... 1 year later. A little worse for wear, but actually not too bad!
Also in June, my parents came for a visit. Here they are in Victoria, BC

In July, Ernie got her first pair of shoes =)
In August, Pete went to the Queen Charlotte Islands and caught our dinners for the rest of the year
In September, we went to Sunapee, New Hampshire and played Bridesmaid and Groomsman

Hello Again
Whoops. Looks like I have been on a major blogging hiatus for most of the summer....
Not much is new, but I will pick up from when we got back from Bali. (That was in June, to put a little perspective on just how badly I've been slacking.) My folks arrived the very next day after we got home from our trip. Considering our new place was still in boxes, it was nice of them to brave the mess. It was also our one year anniversary and they were bringing our ErnieGirl home after watching her while we were away. They even brought up the 1 year old wedding cake... which surprisingly tasted pretty good. I'm sure they are thrilled to have it out of their freezer nonetheless. My parents were quite helpful in putting our place together. Good ol' dad got busy assembling our storage room and hanging shelves. A few trips to Home Depot later we had a nearly functional storage room/office and an entire patio set, complete with a barbecue. Our place is still a work in progress, but things are looking up! (Pictures to come later)
Pete and I spent Canada Day on Lake Whatcom with his family in Bellingham, WA and the 4th of July at our new place with my friend Annie. A few trips to Seattle and some sunny days at the old beach house made July fly by. I can't believe that August has come and gone too. Pete took his annual fishing trip with his family up in the Queen Charlotte Islands and we have been feasting on freshly caught salmon and halibut ever since. A few weekends ago I got to watch one of my college friends get married in Portland, Oregon. It was a beautiful day.
Hockey season is revving up and Pete has taken on a new role in the Vancouver office as V.P. of Operations. Yay Petey. And here we are, back to September again. Even though January is officially the first month of the year, I always feel like September brings a fresh start... maybe that has something to do with being sent back to school year after year?
